Spheres of Fun

March 6th, 2008 by Toni

Did you ever play marbles as a child?  No?  Me neither.  But I totally wish I had because… what fun!  By no means did we follow these rules… waay too complicated instead we made up some simple house rules.  Big circle, 10 marbles, take turns trying to knock them out.  Around here a bag of marbles with a “Tolley” (or Shooter) is about $2.50.  I’ll bet they’re at least that cheap in your area.  Why don’t you go find out and reclaim some childhood.

My son is so addicted to marbles–he always has a few in his pocket and they are part of every sort of play–they roll along his car track, fall from buildings made of blocks, and are found in every corner of our house–literally. The only thing he doesn’t do with them is actually play marbles.:)

Looks like fun! Unfortunately I have a fear of marbles with so many littles in the house, so I don’t know if my kids will ever know the joy!

I loved marbles when I was a kid, but we never played by the official rules. We always made up our own, too!
