Welcome, welcome

A new family moved into the neighborhood a couple of weeks ago. We haven’t been formally introduced but we can see their backyard from ours and Sister quickly deduced a most important thing. “There’s kids, Mama!” After several days of “Can we go meet them, pleeeease” I relented. Kind of. I made cookies which Grandma and Sister delivered. Unfortunately, the family was not at home but I think it’ll be okay. I mean wouldn’t you hasten to make friends with someone who left a big plate of these on your doorstep. By the way, this picture is not an true representation of the cookies we made which were so much better than any standard Chocolate Chip because ours were made with Sam’s Choice Indulgent Trail Mix. If you shop at Wal-mart I know you’ve seen the stuff and if you have seen it you’ve probably bought some but if you’ve never bought any then let me just say; you are missing out on a sweet, little bit of heaven on earth that is doubly enhanced when consumed as a cookie. Here’s the recipe so you can try this goodness for yourself.
Indulgent Cookies
(makes 5 dozen)
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking soda
½ tsp salt
1 cup (2 sticks) butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed light brown sugar
1 tsp vanilla extract
2 eggs
2 ½ cups Sam’s Choice Indulgent Trail Mix
Heat oven to 375 F
Stir together flour, baking soda and salt. Beat butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar and vanilla in a large bowl until creamy. Add eggs; beat well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. Stir in trail mix and drop by rounded teaspoon onto a cookie sheet.
Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until lightly browned. Cool slightly; remove from cookie sheet to cool completely.

Anyone that would bring me cookies is a friend in my book. Those look delicious. And that trail mix? Yes! Yum!
