Photo Hunters - Theme: Broken
February 10th, 2007 by ToniToday’s pictures come courtesy of my father, a long-haul flatbed trucker. They are from a multiple car pile-up he witnessed few winters ago. His was the first truck not involved and as much as I admire my father’s skill as a driver I know that only a miracle stopped his truck inches before it slammed into the motorist in front of him. Obviously, the vehicles involved are “broken” but I wonder too about the lives affected that day. My father spent hours along with rescue workers and other witnesses clearing wreckage and helping the injured. There was at least one fatality that we know of. How many other lives were unexepectedly shattered that day? And how many were saved, like my father, by miracles big and small?
The young, lady driver of the white car above had stepped out of it only moments before and made her way to the top of the hill to survey the damage.
A look at the tangle
A little perspective on the enormity of the situation. Every vehicle you see except the ambulance on the right was involved.
Did you play?

From the looks of things with only one fatality, there were many miracles taking place that day. All I can say is “wow”.
broken cars and probably broken lives…
Broken it is!
wow…that white car was horrible! God was with your dad that day! My photo is up, please come and visit
Wow, and there wasn’t even that much snow!
Wow - what a mess!!!!
Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!
Yikes, lucky for that lady — icy winter roads are the worst. Thanks for stopping by.
Those slick roads and snow and ice are truly dangerous. God was will all those who lived through that mess.
Gosh, so many broken cars. Should not think too much about the reasons….
Great entry.
=^.^=
God was with your father that day. This is so sad.
Oh.my.goodness. The young lady in the white vehicle surly was glad that she got out of her car before it was smashed up like that. Thankfully your dad was in one piece too. Thank you for sharing and perfect for this week’s theme of broken.
Have a wonderful weekend…
Oh my goodness.. that is one terrible accident. I am so relieved to hear the driver of the white car was unharmed. I could not help but wonder. Thank goodness your dad was ok. Bless him for staying and helping with the rescue.
Those are great photos that really fit well with this week’s theme!
What a tangle!
Have a happy weekend.
L
ouch! what a situation… definitely not something that happens often! thanks for visiting.
I’m happy that your father was spared from the accident. It’s a wonderful blessing that I’m sure everyone in your family is grateful for. He has a big heart for helping the injured.
My heart goes out for those who got hurt and for those who did not make it.
Thank you for dropping by.
Wow, how awful ! It happens very often here in Belgium when 3 snowflakes are coming down, because people are not used to drive in snow weather.
Lovely website. The layout and colors are great.
As for that accident . . .I once litigated a 37-car pile-up. A bank of fog caused people to slam into each other. There were 5 fatalities, one being my clients’ father. Burned when the cars burst into flames after being hit. The gal in that white car was not meant to leave this earth that day . . . her angels were on duty. Ditto your father’s. Great take on the prompt and a reminder to all of us to be thankful.
I am so glad we don’t get any snow over here but that unfortunately doesn’t stop accidents…what a set of pics…!
happy hunt!
Oh wow! That’s a horrible accident. So scary. Glad your father and the lady from the white car weren’t hurt.
