Tuesday Night Christmas Party
December 6th, 2006 by ToniLast night was Grandma’s monthly Tuesday Bible Study. She invited her Thursday night prayer group as usual and encouraged them to invite someone if they’d like. Well, our cup certainly did runneth over. We tried to figure out after the party how many people had come and Papa said, “two more than there were chairs.”… and we have a lot of chairs. Anyway, it was a wonderful evening of food and fellowship. Sister sang “Away in the Manger” before the teaching got started and then Will & I did “Oh, Holy Night” later in the evening. Sister had her first communion which was obviously very special. In retrospect these gatherings are a lot of work but the company makes it all worthwhile. What a tremendous blessing to be able to serve these men and women of God if only in this small way.
One particular quote of note: Near the end of the evening Grandma asked if anyone needed prayer and two of the ladies did so the whole group commences praying in tongues, laying hands on the ladies and speaking the Word over them. Naturally all of that happening at once created quite a ruckus. I had slipped out to start the cleanup and noticed that Sister kept peeking around the door of the sunroom to watch the praying. As the prayers came to a close, Sister came and whispered in my ear, “Mama, it’s okay. I think they’ve calmed down now.”
