No More Fairy Princess
July 6th, 2006 by ToniI finally got fed up with Sister’s hair always being in knots. Even after a good wash with shampoo AND conditioner there seemed to be no end to the rat’s nest. I offered to cut it. She agreed. We pulled out Grandma’s shears, set her on Papa’s ladder and off it came. First, let me say that I can’t believe that I cut it myself. After my own experiences with “haircuts by mom” I was sure I would never do such a thing to my child … oh, well. Second, despite this history and my lack of experience it actually turned out nice. But third, and this is the kicker, I am full of remorse that she will probably never look like a fairy princess again. It is a side effect that I did not consider. She looks at least a year older without any ringlets flowing mischievously around her cheeks. She loves it by the way. Goodbye, little fairy.
